How This All Started
While I still make all my mobiles the way I always have made them - out of plastic polymer, I found that polymer was not suitable for the extra large sized mobiles. My brother - who makes custom racing motorcycles - suggested I try carbon fiber for the "paddles". I did and it works out beautifully! I am now offering XL and BIGGER (MASSIVE!) sizes in this carbon material.
What is Carbon Fiber?
Massive Art Mobiles by AtomicMobiles are the ultimate in hi-tech lightweight durable XXL mobiles! Carbon filber is the hi-tech 21st century modern material, it is strong and extremely lightweight. Many of you guys out there are familiar with carbon fiber on dashboards of cars and on motorcycles. Carbon fiber is used for a wide variety of objects that require strength and light weight.
Because these extra large mobiles are so lightweight, they move in the slightest breeze and are super strong and durable for years of enjoyment, indoors or outdoors.
MASSIVE Sizes
Available in a wide array of sizes from 4 feet up to 20 feet (of course my smaller polymer mobiles are still available too!). Do you have a tall ceiling? Fill it with a beautiful extra large art mobile, hand made just for you, for your space! Larger and custom sizes are available, simply contact me and let me know what you want.
MASSIVE Colors
My MASSIVE art mobiles are available in all the beautiful colors you've come to expect from AtomicMobiles (including glow in the dark and pearl/metallic colors!) plus Carbon Filber Black which is the natural glossy carbon fiber look you are so familiar with when you think of CF (carbon fiber)! Yes, you can have a custom art mobile that features the hi-tech modern carbon fiber (CF) look!

Because the process to create a custom MASSIVE art mobile is very time-consuming and painstaking, please allow 2 - 4 weeks for completion.

- How thick are the color pieces?
Each color piece is about as thin as a CD and amazingly strong - stronger than steel - and very lightweight.
- What's the difference between polymer and carbon?

The smaller mobiles are made from polymer plastic and are approximately 1/8" thick. Polymer is only suitable for smaller indoor mobiles.
The larger mobiles are made from carbon and are much thinner in thickness - about the thickness of a CD - less than 1/16". I make the larger "MASSIVE" mobiles out of carbon due to it's extreme strength for the larger "paddles" and it can be hung indoors or outdoors. The carbon mobiles are sanded and painted to a perfect finish. Both polymer and carbon are available in a wide variety of colors.
- How much does it weight?
Not much considering the size! The weight varies from a mere 1 pound and up, depending on the size of the mobile.
- What are the "arms" made of?
The "arms" are made of the same high quality stainless steel wire as my smaller polymer mobiles.
- How do I hang my MASSIVE mobile?
Full instruction are included with every mobile, including the necessary hooks and nylon line.
- Can I hang it outside?
Yes, these mobiles are suitable for indoor or outdoor use.
- Can I get "swirly" in the MASSIVE art mobiles?
Unfortunately, no. These MASSIVE mobiles are created utilizing a different process from the smaller polymer mobiles.
- Can I get a smaller mobile made out of carbon?
Yes, I can make any of my mobiles in any size with carbon. In fact, if you are planning on hanging your Atomic Mobile outdoors it needs to be carbon, because polymer is not suitable for hanging outside. Because of the extra time and cost of materials, my carbon mobiles cost a little more than their polymer counterparts. Contact me for a custom quote.
Do you offer custom sizes?
Yes, absolutely! Tell me what size you need and I'll make it for you!
What if I need a color I don't see here?
Contact me with your color requirements and I'll make every attempt to match them as accurately as possible.
How soon will I get my MASSIVE Art Mobile?
Because of the size and process to make these mobiles, please allow at least 2 - 4 weeks for completion and another week for delivery.
Do I need to assemble it?
The larger sizes are shipped partially unassembled, with easy instructions for assembly.
What carrier do you use to ship a MASSIVE mobile?
UPS.
